Boy's tennis at Camp Ranger 1977 has proven to be one of the finest programs in our history. Individual instruction from one of Ranger's best tennis staffs - including Assistant Jack Freindlich, Aides to Gary Gottdiener and Steve Davis, and weekend appearances by touring pro Sol Lesser space bar- has brought about improvement in the campers basic and advanced tennis skills. Two players who have excelled in our program this year have been Matthew Price and Robert Samet, both of whom received The Most Improved Player Awards.

This year Ranger was invited back to the Lokanda Tournament including eight camps and the Sequoia Tournament including 16 camps. Our strategies to win back the first place trophies involved going to the tennis courts every morning at 6:45, where we stretched, drilled and practiced for the physical and mental competition that we would face. At the Lokanda Tournament we expected to have our greatest success of the summer. Unfortunately, it was delayed, and then canceled due to inclement weather.

At home, we offered bunk Ladder Tournaments. The first two boys in each bunk were placed into an elimination tournament in their respective divisions; the winner receiving a trophy. The winner of the Bomber division was Steven Streichler, the Law or Senior Division, Barry Glassman; the Senior Division, Barry Birnbaum; and finally the winner of the Office Boy division was Howard Davis. The classic Ranger Cup Tournament ran very smoothly and with much success.

I would like to thank my talented staff for their hard work and cooperation. I what also like to express my thanks to Jerry and Judy Turner for providing us with one of the finest sets of tennis courts in the Catskills.
