Gary "The Goose" Gableman pumped in a game high twenty-nine points to lead Camp Ranger to a 69-44 championship game win over Camp Lenni-Len-A-Pe's senior team in the loser's own tournament. It was the second consecutive title for Ranger in the LLP tourney. In the junior division, Lenni-Len-A-Pe captured the crown with a 58-48 win over a Ranger squad.
With LLP double-teaming Ranger's great Elmor Schwartz, the unheralded "Goose" rose to the occasion with nineteen second half points in capturing MVP honors. Paul Kaufman tallied eleven points and "Hound dog" Steve Davis came off the bench to toss in nine points.
Ranger reached the senior final with a 62-51 win over Camp Monroe. "Goose" led the balanced attack with 15 points, while Schwartz and Kaufman each tossed in 13.
Congratulations to all squad members: "Goose", "Pistol pek", "Elmor", Grabadoo, Kaufman, "Hound Dog" "Cheeks", "Chief" "Wheels", "Candy-Andy" "Gimme the ball", and "Nina".
In the junior division, Lenni-Len-A-Pe spurted to 16 point lead in the second half on the way to the title as Steve Tesch's 25 points went for naught.
Tesch also had 25 in the first round has Ranger toppled Kennybrook 63-31. Matty Barkoff tallied 16 points and Lance Rucker notched 12.
