On July 17 Camp Ranger under Tourney Director Jeff Ruskin hosted its 3rd annual Ranger Invitational Tournament.
On the first day the tourney is made up of boys 15 and under. Each team brings an A and B team. Ranger coached by E. Kalick and S. Pelta for the 3rd straight year won the A tourney beating Olympus & then Loconda in the finals. Lenny Weinstein pitched 2 brilliant games and was awarded the game ball for the tourney. The MVP trophy went to Bob Appenzeller. On the B game Ranger lost to Loconda by one run in the last inning. Olympus went on to win the tournament.
The second day of the tournament is made up of boys 13 and under - again A and B team exist coach by E. Kalick and J. Schnitt Ranger swept the day winning both divisions. IN the A game Ranger beat Kewanee behind Gary (MVP) Moelis' fine pitching and the hitting of game ball winner Gavin Christie. The B team first beat Kewanee behind the pitching of Fred Leighton and the fine hitting of Andy Feldman. In the finals they beat Impala to win it all. MVP went to Fred Leighton and game ball to Feldman.

The Camp Ranger Waiter Basketball team completed a six game schedule with a 3-3 record.
They opened the year with a loss at the hands of Kewanee 63-46. Jeff Mutterperl led Ranger with 19 points. Wins against Lincoln Farms and White Lake Estates followed (Richie Klein 16 points against Lincoln Farms) -- Then the waiters were beaten by a B counselor team 64-48, but Jeff Mutterperl had 21 points. The waiters then defeated White Lake Estates once again 69-55 with Richie Berman scoring 21. The waiters ended their year on a losing note to bring their record to 500. They lost to Camp Westwood 61-48. Jeff Mutterperl had 28 for Ranger.
The team without much practice did well and played aggressive all year long. Some other standouts were J. Tepperberg, E. Brean, R. Tausher, D. Schwartz and P. Rindenow.
