Once again it is our sad task to write a farewell
message to our Ranger girls and boys with whom we have lived so happily for
the past eight weeks.
The season just passed has been one of the healthiest and happiest in the
forty two years that Camp Ranger has been in existence. We remember with
fond thoughts all of the pleasant events of the past season: the colorful
and explosive fireworks celebration of the 4th of July; the fun Circus and
Carnival which raised $500 for the UJA for the 23rd consecutive year; the
exciting trips to Niagara Falls, Howe Caverns, Watkins Glen, and Smith's
Museum; the all-camp outdoor barbecues; water skiing, horseback riding, and
sailing; the cook-outs and overnight sleep-outs; the new and exciting canoe
trips down the Delaware River; the many exciting intercamp games; the
bowling nights in Liberty the outdoor picnic and movie in town; the
thrilling "Day With the Knicks" starring Willis Reed, Neil Johnson, Walt
Frazer, Howie Komives, and Mike Reordon; the yummy "Sundae on a Sunday"
treats; the inspiring Friday night services; the outdoor movies; the weekly
socials and formal final proms; the great dramatic program which included
"South Pacific", "Milk and. Honey". "Pajama Game" "Finian's Rainbow", "Guys
and Dolls", and our really big one, "Fiddler on the Roof", the smash hit of
the season; the thrilling color war started in surprise by the shrill sirens
and high water spray of the White Lake Fire Dept. and hotly contested right
down to the last event, the fine sing; the hilarious "High Court night; the
Ranger Cup and tournament tennis competition; the excitement of the
"Announcement of Awards" night; and finally, the 42nd Annual Banquet
followed by the sentimental "Candle-Lighting Ceremony" at the lake, followed
by tears for the finish of a beautiful summer!
To all of you - our
campers and staff alike - we bid a fond farewell. We sincerely hope that the
friendships made here at Camp Ranger this season as well as in the past will
continue for many years to come and will grow stronger with each passing
year.
We are looking forward to the great pleasure of seeing all of you again at
our Annual Reunion which will be held on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 28, 1968 in
the Terrace Ballroom of the Statler Hilton Hotel in New York City. We also
hope to have the additional pleasure of having you back with us again at
Camp Ranger in 1968 for another memorable summer filled with happiness and
great enjoyment
Fondly,
JERRY LORBER and JERRY TURNER
