Camp Ranger Award

I guess the best way to explain this place where we spent so many summers together is to restate the wonderful words at the beginning of the 1993 reunion book. Thank you Richie Marks, Bobby Mait, Sue Sussman and Beth Salomon Birnbaum for your inspiration:

"Camp Ranger was physically not much more than 20 or 30 wooden buildings, some ball fields, some paved roads, and a beautiful waterfront. It was a 3 hour bus ride from an urban school yard in NYC to Silver Lake. For most of us it was the first time we were away from our parents, friends and most important, our black and white TV's!!

"Camp represented so very much to so many of us -- fellowship, athletic competition, sharing, caring, hope and love. For many it was a coming of age. It was our first real taste of life and a special freedom away on our own. Camp Ranger was most of all a time to be with old friends and to make new ones. This was an extraordinarily special place where our hearts sang songs of pure happiness."

These two paragraphs say it all. This was Camp Ranger - it still is to those who hold it in their hearts!
